Schools Engineering Challenge Final 2010.

Last Friday this years engineering final went ahead. With three schools competing this year, St Bedes (Peterlee), Seaham School of Technology and Durham Community Business College.

The event went well and the scores were seperated by only 20 points from first to third.

Durham Community Business College won the event for the fourth time in a row, Seaham a close second and St.Bedes in third.

The NSK project award went to Team B from Seaham for scoring the most points for their bridge.

I would like to thank all that helped on the day and throughout the challenge to make it a success, as well as all the schools who brought a good atmosphere to the event.

See you all next year.

Engineering Challenge Final 2009 - 18 August 2009
The engineering challenge final went down a storm. All the teams created some great projects for the prizes on offer and the scores at the end of the day were extremely close between all schools involved. The awards are as follows:
Overall Winner: DCBC
2nd Place: Wellfield
3rd Place: St. Bedes
Runners up: Easington and Seaham
NSK Best Project award: DCBC team C
Best Team Award: DCBC team A
Well done to all involved and although DCBC seemed to have ran away with the awards all the scores were extremely close. We hope to see you all again next year... can anyone stop DCBC from a 4th victory in a row?

Quotes of the day:
John Potts (NSK) - "some of the work thats been done here is really really first class!"
Peter Phipps (AimHigher) - "its that sort of motivation and that sort of commitment which is going to take you all very far!"
                                               - "everyone of you who has taken part in this project is a winner..."

East Durham Schools Challenge Launch - 14 April 2009

The East Durham Schools Engineering Challenege Launch on the 19th March 2009 was a great success but just the beggining.

4 Schools attended the launch at East Durham College where the Forum Team briefed the pupils on the 12 week project ahead. Following this was an interactive quiz based on Science, Maths and Engineering which came down to a 3 way tie.
The winner, Daniel Harvey, was the closest to guessing the top speed of concorde, which is 1,490 miles per hour.
No one went home empty handed as all pupils got pop, sweets and crisps.

Many thanks to Aimhigher County Durham who are sponsoring the Engineering Challenge 2009 and without them it would not be possible.
